Silantro

It's seldom that I get to try, much less, review a restaurant further than Makati or BGC. Good thing this restaurant branched out into the south and I didn't have to go all the way to Quezon City to enjoy this food experience. When Silantro opened a few months ago, in the new building/new wing of Alabang Town Center, I didn't understand why people were making a big deal of it. People were lining up and waiting long periods of time to be sat and served with the restaurant's best dishes. This goes to show that some hypes are really worth lining up for and are really worth the try.

It's a good thing that my brother had free time on a weekday and we had the chance to go to Silantro without having any problem being sat immediately. What's amazing is, even though it was a weekday, it was still filled with customers and this proves that it's a quality restaurant because, at this point, it had opened for a few months already and yet people were still coming back to enjoy Silantro's dishes over and over again. How do I know they were repeat customers? I don't. Just a guess. (Hehe!)

Anyway, let's get on to the review!

WHAT WE ORDERED:

Beef Nachos: Now, I know there are a lot of restaurants that serve nachos, but what's different about this is that their nachos are filled with actual beef and, for some unknown reason, the tomatoes that were in the nachos, on its own, were sweet too. Plus, for the price of 180 pesos?! Their nachos could be shared and split between two people. That's a lot of nachos for a price that's not too expensive.

Beef Quesadillas: With this one, I wasn't too happy about. It was filled with lots and lots of cheese and I know what you're thinking! ("They gave you extra cheese?! What are you complaining about?!") What I'm complaining about is that the extra extra cheese that was put into the quesadillas cancelled out the flavor and taste of the beef, which was the whole point of me ordering the beef quesadillas, otherwise I would have ordered a cheese quesadillas instead. It, honestly, tasted like nothing with the texture of soft and pliable rubber.

Fish Ligero: You would think that a fish based soft taco type dish would be too fishy and unpalatable but this one wasn't. It almost was like chicken and their seasoning and marinade were on point.

Salpicado: Silantro's version of a salpicao and a delicious version it is. (<----- *Insert Yoda Voice*)

Melon Shake: I don't even know what I drank, all I know is that it tasted cockroach-y. I don't know what a cockroach tastes like but..... For some reason that's all I was thinking about while I was drinking it. It didn't taste like actual melons crushed up and blended with ice, which I understand, given their price range, but I didn't think it would taste like that at all.

Overall, Silanto is actually worth the hype and they really aren't too expensive for the quality of the dishes they serve. However, they really need to work on their beverages. Maybe it was just a one time, too bad for me, experience but, hopefully, when or, if, I try it again, it will taste better than it did when I tried it.

THAT'S ALL...... BYE!!!

HAVE A HAPPY FOOD TRIP!!!! :)
