Outback Steak House

I don't know if it's just me growing up and having more of a mature palate but I do remember having a penchant for Outback Steakhouse's food when I was a little younger. I also remember dragging my parents there whenever I saw one. That's why I don't understand why I didn't enjoy it. Then again, I did watch a Youtube video showing Australians trying Outback Steakhouse's food for the first time and not liking it at all. So maybe if it's not good enough for native aussies then it's not good enough for me either.

Let me note that I went to a newly renovated Outback Steak House Restaurant in Alabang and, with it being where I first tried Outback, I thought that it would still be the same just, you know, with more of a modern interior design. Side note, I don't understand why they changed their interior design or even their exterior design. The whole point of being in the Outback is being isolated from the city and being located in a desert where it's normal to find a cabin-like diner.

Now, if you haven't noticed yet, I was a pretty "healthy" eater back then too and made it a point to try everything we ordered at least once, except for, you know, salads and vegetables, because I didn't know that they were actually healthy and good for your body, I just thought that they were bland and boring, and, now that I've grown up, I still feel the same way. Plus, when you add in the salad dressing into the mix, is it REALLY still good for you?

Anyway, my point is, I'm not a picky eater, despite naming myself Choosy Abbey. I just don't like anything with mayonnaise or eggs that are cooked sunny-side up, over-easy, poached, soft-boiled, or hard-boiled. I don't like exotic food either. I think the most exotic food that I've had are game meats, specifically duck and rabbit. See, not a picky eater at all!

Moving on....

WHAT WE ORDERED:

Free Bread: This, I remembered from my childhood. It's now ruined... I mean it was okay, at best, but I didn't want more of it after the first loaf was gone, which wasn't the case when I was younger.

Typhoon Burger: Look at the picture! Does it look appetizing? Yes, it does. But it's more of a "home-made I'm just going to stack these together" look rather than the "I'm paying 500 pesos (10 USD) for this" look that I wanted. However, if we are sticking to the Outback theme, then I think the plating's fine.

Some kind of Risotto: I can't remember what it was called, I just remember it being similar to lugaw (rice porridge). I mean it is basically the same thing but I've had great risottos before and this was definitely not great.

Half-Slab of Baby Back Ribs: It was fine...... Nothing special. I mean it's supposed to be baby back ribs from Outback Australia, come on!!!!!

This has been my most uninspired review yet! I just don't understand!

Tell me why.... Ain't nothing but a heartache. TELL ME WHY! AIN'T NOTHING BUT A MISTAKE!!!!! Sorry, copyright.

I think they need to revamp their menu and tailor it to what people would eat in Outback Australia rather than add fancy Italian risotto to their menu and make their prep life more difficult.

That's all..... BYE!!!!

Have a happy food trip! :)
