Fundamental Coffee

Coffee shops have really been stepping up their game. Aside from the known favorites like the usual mocha, cappuccino, and latte, they now have something called cold brew coffee, which is basically coffee brewed with room temperature or cold water over a 12 to 24-hour brew time.

I don't know if the idea or the practice of making cold brew coffee has been done before, or is only now being recognized, or is only now being done but, through old and helpful Google, we will find out. (I know this is supposed to be about the food and the drink but a little knowledge won't hurt will it? Plus it saves you the time and effort of researching yourself.)

See, if you would have researched, where cold brew coffee originated from on your own, then you would find that its origin is, quite possibly, impossible to pinpoint. The practice of cold brewing could, sort of, be traced as far back as the 1600s and may have been started by the Dutch. However, the Dutch may have only influenced the Japanese, who were then already practicing cold brewing tea, which could have sparked the idea for them, the Japanese, to cold brew coffee as well.

Its origin may be a lost cause to find but its purpose is another story. Cold brew coffee's original purpose was to serve as rations for the military. There are theories that they were made so that the soldiers would be able to reconstitute coffee concentrate, which is the product of cold brewing, in the field.

Back to the review...

WHAT WE ORDERED:

Old Fashioned Cappuccino: As its name implies, it's an old fashioned cappuccino. I think its only difference from any other cappuccino is its milk foam having a melted marshmallow type texture.

Iced Double Mocha: It's the one in the picture. Tell me that doesn't look good? There's definitely some chocolate goodness in there. Add in the chocolate whipped cream and we're done.

Cold Brew: I couldn't have gone on and on about this above without having tried, at least, one. We tried their, honey, almond, and cocoa.

Cold Brew Honey: Was, apparently, supposed to taste more like honey. But it didn't.

Cold Brew Almond: Was, apparently, supposed to taste more like almond. But it didn't.

Cold Brew Cocoa: This actually tasted like cocoa. But it was weird because it was like sipping cold tea that's cocoa flavored.

Four Cheese Sandwich: It's a four cheese sandwich! If anyone has that in their menu and, for impossible reasons, make it unappetizing to anyone, then that establishment should shut down immediately. It was SUPER delicious.

They also have great desserts for you to try and I'm not going to say which desserts we did try because I can't remember and I don't see it in their menu online.

Oh! It's also, well I think, important to note that their interior design is quite hipster chic and would be enjoyed by many foodstagrammers like me.

That's all...... BYE!

Have a happy food trip! :)
